Beaver Island STEM and History Expedition - June 1-3, 2026

Program Overview

Each summer, Clare Public Schools offers an all expenses paid, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for upcoming high school students to take part in the Beaver Island STEM/History Expedition—a 3-day immersive learning experience set on Michigan's most remote inhabited island.

Through hands-on field science, environmental exploration, and historical investigation, students become true Pioneers—conducting research, engaging with Michigan's unique past, and forming memories that last a lifetime.

🧭 What Students Experience

Field Science

Water quality testing, native plant and animal studies, geology walks, and island ecosystems.

Local History

Investigate the legacy of the Beaver Island King Strang colony, lighthouse systems, maritime trade, and Native American settlement.

Outdoor Exploration

Hiking the island's trails, visiting historic sites, team-building games, and night sky observation.

Community Connection

Meet island researchers, historians, and naturalists who help bring the learning to life.
