Taking Learning to New Heights

Clare Unmanned is Clare High School's drone club—a place where students explore the science, engineering, and real-world applications of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). As part of the Pioneer Fusion STEM initiative, the club offers students a unique opportunity to fly and compete with drones while building career-ready skills in a rapidly growing field.
Club members train on a professional-grade fleet, including DJI Neos, DJI Mini 4 Pros, and StarGazer RTF drones. Students learn to operate advanced hardware such as RC2 controllers, DJI Goggles N3, and Motion 3 controllers, simulating the tools used by professionals in industries ranging from emergency response to environmental surveying.

Advanced Racing
Clare Unmanned doesn't just fly for fun—we compete. Students train for and participate in drone flight competitions, where they solve real-world challenges through precision flying, obstacle navigation, and strategic mission planning. These competitions help students apply STEM knowledge while building leadership, focus, and resilience under pressure.
In addition, Clare Unmanned introduces students to career pathways in drone technology—including opportunities in aerial photography, search and rescue, agriculture, mapping, inspection, and beyond. Club members gain familiarity with the technical skills and safety knowledge needed to pursue future drone certifications and careers.
No prior drone experience is required—just curiosity, focus, and a steady hand.
Meetings begin in September
Open to students in grades 9–12
